TAP to launch Web Portal for mobile phones

The growing use of mobile phones has led Star Alliance to develop a Common IT Mobile Platform. The web portal can be accessed anywhere and allows airline companies to offer their customers services through their mobile phones. TAP, together with Egyptair and South African Airways, was among the first members of Star Alliance to launch their portal as part of this project.


TAP offers new Premium Boarding service

In line with its efforts to continuously improve its customer services, TAP now offers its TAP Executive customers and holders of Victoria Gold, TAP Corporate and Star Gold cards more personalised attendance and a new, exclusive service at Lisbon Airport: Premium Boarding.


TAP reports growth in online check-in

The number of boarding cards issued online through the TAP website until the month of August rose 17% against the same period in 2008. This form of online check-in has been used by an average of 35,000 customers per month, resulting in 280,000 boarding cards issued in the first eight months of this year.


TAP offers ‘Simpatia’

From now until December, TAP is re-launching its Simpatia Programme, reinforcing the company’s promise to offer customers better quality service.


TAP commences twice-daily flights to Valencia

From 25 October, TAP will start operating twice-daily flights to Valencia, which will become the eighth Spanish destination to be served by the company. This brings the total number of daily flights connecting Portugal and Spain to 27.


TAP announces new route to Algiers

TAP will launch a new route to Algiers on 26 November, strengthening its presence in Africa. It will also increase its Casablanca operations to 12 flights per week, along with three flights to Bissau and five to Praia.


TAP breaks passenger record

On Friday 31 July TAP transported a total of 34,931 passengers, a figure that represents an absolute record for passengers transported by the company on a single day. However, this number was surpassed this Sunday, August 2 with a total of 35,215 reaching an occupancy rate on this day of 84.7%.


TAP launches priority access at Porto

TAP is now offering Premium Customers at Porto Airport ‘Green Way’ - a priority access service at x-ray and security control checkpoints.


TAP promotes fundraising for refugees

TAP has associated itself with Helpin, a virtual network of private sector Portuguese partners coordinated by the High Commissariat of the United Nations for Refugees – UNHCR. The nationwide initiative aims to raise funds for refugees on the African continent.


TAP starts operations at Terminal 1 in Barcelona

Along with its Star Alliance partners TAP will be one of the pioneering companies to begin operating from the new Terminal 1 of El Prat in Barcelona this June.


TAP now operating from Heathrow T1

TAP is now operating from the revamped Terminal 1 at Heathrow Airport in London, as part of the Star Alliance “Move under one Roof” project designed to offer Alliance passengers greater ease and more options via use of common spaces at major world airports.


TAP increases flights to Africa

TAP is increasing flights between Portugal and Africa over the summer with the start up of new flights to Luanda, Dakar, Praia and Sao Tome & Principe as well as offering special fares to Angola.


TAP begins flights to Moscow

The start of the summer at Domodedevo Airport in Moscow will be marked by the arrival of TAP Portugal, with the leading Portuguese airline company beginning regular flights on a direct leg between Lisbon and Moscow five times a week.


TAP launches carbon offset programme

TAP Portugal this week launched its Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Emission Offset Program in partnership with the IATA (International Air Transport Association) marking World Environment Day and offering passengers the opportunity to offset the CO2 emissions resulting from their flights giving their contributions to projects to reduce emissions in developing countries via enrolment in the program.


TAP to run extra flights to Dakar this summer

TAP will run two extra flights a week to Dakar over the period between July 23 and September 3.


TAP & LOT extend code-share

The launch of direct TAP flights between Lisbon and Warsaw from June 9 enabled TAP Portugal and LOT Polish Airlines, both Star Alliance partners, to intensify their bilateral ties of cooperation, extending their code-share operations to this new service.


Special fare marks extra flights to Sao Tome

From October 26 TAP is increasing flights to some destinations. The company is responding to increased demand in a flexible way to existing opportunities for expansion and in this case doubling its flights to Sao Tome in comparison with the winter period of last year.


TAP tops 33 thousand passengers in a single day

On August 1 TAP topped a new total number of passengers transported in a single day with a record amount of 33,464. The company has thus improved its previous record by six percent in relation to the last goal achieved on August 11 2007 with 31,714 passengers transported on the same day.


TAP offers faster departures at Lisbon Airport

From August 11 at Lisbon Airport, Tap Executive, Tap Plus passengers or Gold and Silver Victoria Program and TAP Corporate Card members are now offered a new security control and priority x-ray handling service that will help facilitate faster access to the departure lounge.


TAP announces new handling company at Heathrow

In a joint tender process, TAP along with 5 other member-companies of the Star Alliance selected the Menzies Aviation company to provide ground-based handling services at Terminal 1 at Heathrow Airport in London. With the choice of this new handling company Alliance companies hope to improve the quality of the service they provide their customers with at London Airport as well as save over 1 million euros a year.


TAP offers greater online buying flexibility

TAP has improved use of the potential of QPX software from ITA Software, Inc, the leading American company supplying innovative IT solutions to the aviation industry. Investing in differentiation through quality and price, in June TAP launched five new products that can be purchased on its website using the advantages of QPX in online commercialization.


TAP increases flights to Oslo

TAP is increasing its flights to Oslo by launching an extra two flights a week between Lisbon and the Norwegian capital, a leg that already currently runs one flight a day. These two new flights will start up in the beginning of January 2009 and will run on Fridays and Saturdays departing Lisbon at 11:25pm and arriving in Oslo at 4:25am (Flight TP508). Flights leave the Norwegian capital on Saturdays and Sundays at 5:10am and land in Lisbon at 8:20am (Flight TP509).


Casablanca joins TAP network

From October 27, TAP begins flights to Morocco. Flights will run on daily basis between Lisbon and Casablanca except on Sundays in a total of six flights a week. Demand for this new destination has already come to confirm the uptake of passengers of this investment by the Company in one of the largest and most important cities in Morocco.


TAP offers all Europe for 64 Euros

On the 11th September, TAP announced the largest low-cost travel sale offer ever held in Portugal, putting 300 thousand tickets at 64 Euros on the market valid on flights to any destination in Europe that the Company runs direct flights to. With this special offer TAP is offering a total of 35 destinations in Europe with direct flights from Lisbon and 13 destinations from Porto.


TAP increases dedicated check-in desks

With a view to constantly increasing the service it provides its passengers with, TAP is now offering tap-plus and Victoria Silver card holders new check-in desks with differential customer care alongside the tap-executive check-in desks. These desks are located in Premium Space, an exclusive area created by TAP in June to offer support to tap-executive passengers, Victoria Gold and tap-corporate cardholders.


TAP punctuality above European average

TAP punctuality registered in October was above the EAA (European Airline Association) with 84 percent of company flights departing at their scheduled times while according to the latest data released for August average EAA punctuality was around 80 percent.


Europe for 59 Euros

TAP has launched a major 59 Euro ticket campaign valid on all destinations in Europe, offering an even more attractive price than the one offered in the campaign held in September. This special offer, valid on departures from Lisbon and Porto includes the 35 destinations in Europe to which TAP runs direct flights as well as flights between Lisbon and Porto and Madeira.


Tap offers over 100 extra flights to Madeira and the Azores

TAP is to increase its flights to Madeira and the Azores during the Christmas and New Year period offering its passengers 103 extra flights in total between December 14, 2008 and January 6, 2009.


Fuels drag TAP into the “Red”

TAP’s 18 percent increase in revenue between January and August was insufficient to compensate for the brutal rise on fuel costs with the result that the airline registered losses of 133 million euros at the close of the first eight months of 2008.


TAP offer New York return for 588 Euros

New York is now 588 Euros (inclusive of all charges) away in the TAP special offer campaign valid on return flights from Lisbon and Porto taken between January 15 and March 31. TAP operates seven direct flights a week to New York from Lisbon and two a week from Porto.


TAP opens new lounge at Lisbon Airport

On December 22nd, the TAP Premium Lounge at Lisbon Airport was opened, a new ample space of 500m2 that offers passengers the most up-to-date and comfortable rest, leisure, entertainment, multimedia and Business Center area as well as providing free wireless internet access.

TAP flies to Warsaw, Moscow & Helsinki

TAP is to fly from Lisbon to Warsaw, Moscow and Helsinki from June of next year with a basic five flights a week to each of the new destinations. TAP will be increasing flights to one a day to the capital of Poland during the peak season from July 22 to September 6.


TAP & Dom Pedro Hotels establish partnership deal

TAP and Dom Pedro Hotels have signed a partnership that allows the 800 thousand members of the TAP Victoria Program to earn miles for each stay at any hotel in the Dom Pedro Hotel Group in Lisbon, Madeira and along the Algarve coast.

TAP invests in energy and environmental efficiency

TAP reinforces leadership on Portugal-Spain routes

In 2008 TAP reinforced its leadership on routes between Portugal and Spain by transporting 177 thousand more passengers between the two countries than in the previous year, reaching a total of 817 thousand passengers, equivalent to a comparable growth of 28 percent. This positive figure contrasts with a downturn in this market that saw a reduction of 82 thousand passengers transported last year by all the regular airline companies operating these routes.


TAP & SATA join forces to promote the Azores

TAP Portugal and SATA have broadened their commercial cooperation and joined forces in increasing a joint offer of flights to new markets, namely the Azores region. Intensification of this cooperation is reflected in the widening of the scope of the code-share agreement that the two companies have maintained since the year 2000.
