Jet Airways to go twice weekly on famed Buddhist circuit
29 September 2009
Leisure travellers are set to benefit from a new twice weekly service starting on 6 October linking two important Indian cities on the Buddhist pilgrimage circuit, Varanasi, and Gaya, with the Thai capital of Bangkok.
Varanasi is one of the oldest cities in the world and Gaya is home to the famed Mahabodhi temple, a UNESCO heritage site where, according to Buddhist traditions, Buddha attained enlightenment.
The airline will operate the twice weekly services on Tuesdays and Fridays, routing Bangkok-Gaya-Varanasi-Bangkok.
