Government must help car finance industry, says FLA

Tracker recovers cars hidden in a lorry
Two stolen vehicles have been found hidden inside a lorry in Chelmsford, Essex, thanks to the advanced Very High Frequency (VHF) technology used for TRACKER security devices. Young people have a more positive attitude to safety cameras than older drivers, according to the latest survey of driver opinions on safety cameras from the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists). UK will take the lead on electric vehicles

Over £20 billion to be spent on second-hand cars

Improving road safety for pedestrians and cyclists
A report today by the National Audit Office highlights the fall in the number of deaths among both pedestrians and cyclists since the mid-1990s though more remains to be done to improve their safety. The number of deaths among pedestrians has fallen by 36 per cent but Great Britain is some way behind some of the better performing nations, particularly for child pedestrians. The number of cyclists killed or seriously injured fell from 2000 to 2004, but rose again by 11 per cent from 2004 to 2007, despite the amount of cycling staying broadly constant.
