Global Emerging Markets: No longer a niche investment
21 October 2009
BlackRock's Daniel Tubbs, fund manager in BlackRock's Global Emerging Markets team, believes that the powerful and resilient growth of emerging markets, and the benefits of a young and growing population becoming steadily wealthier, make global emerging markets an enduringly attractive investment.
Daniel Tubbs said: "The inescapable fact is that emerging markets are becoming bigger and more important to the global economy. We have seen a major shift of economic power towards emerging markets over the last 20 years - they currently account for almost half of the world's GDP (49%). Five of the world's ten largest companies are now from emerging markets."
