Men are smiles ahead on dental hygiene
15 June 2009
Men spend more on looking after their teeth according to new research from Tesco Dental Insurance.
A third of British women claim they spent nothing on dental treatment over the past 12 months compared to just 27% of men.
Worryingly 45% of women have been put off from going to their dentist because of the cost.
However, men don't always come out ahead in dental hygiene - they would be three times more likely than women to extract their own tooth if they felt that they couldn't afford to go to the dentist.
Jeremy Sutton, head of Tesco Dental Insurance says, "Dental treatment can be expensive, in some cases costing £86 for an extraction. With cover from just £9.95 a month, Tesco Dental Insurance helps manage the cost and covers for routine NHS and private dental treatment."
