Which? calls for an end to expensive dialling codes
23 October 2008
Alliance and Leicester, Capital One, ISP Eclipse and Toucan are among the organisations who have changed their dialling codes to costly 0844, 0845, 0870 or 0871 numbers, reveals Which? this month.
The Driving Standards Agency, BBC, British Gas, and Manchester United have all switched to the cheaper 03 numbers.
Which? research shows that only 24% of Which? members know that 03 numbers cost the same as the 01/02 geographical dialling codes. Low awareness of 03 shouldn't deter organisations from using it and Which? is calling for companies to provide a fairer deal to consumers.
